Top Tips for Looking After Your Skin in the Summer

Top Tips to get beautiful looking skin for the summer

  • Use a moisturiser throughout the whole year and step up the usage before summer
  • Apply moisturiser frequently, especially after showering when skin is still damp to lock in extra moisture
  • After swimming, rinse and apply moisturiser immediately
  • Avoid heavily fragranced products and don’t use perfume directly on your skin.
  • Use products that are non-greasy, fast absorbing and don’t leave any white marks on darker skin tones
  • Use sun protection with SPF 30 or higher

How to Take Care of your Baby's Dry, Eczema-Prone Skin

Top tips for taking care of your baby’s dry, eczema-prone skin:

  • Apply emollient every day, as often as required, ideally after a bath or shower.
  • It’s important to establish a regular bathing and moisturising routine.
  • Use 250/500g of emollient per week (child/adult)
  • Apply it all over the body using down-stroke motions and you do not rub.
  • Use products that are fragrance-free, non-greasy, fast absorbing and easy to apply
  • Avoid triggers such as wool, heat, perfumes, hairy pets, swimming pool etc., that can irritate dry, eczema-prone skin

How to Manage Dry Skin Across Life Stages

Dr. Tomson discusses how your skin needs can change throughout life and shares her top tips for how to take care of dry skin.

  • Moisturise frequently to replace the reduced amount of natural oils in aging skin & limit overuse of soaps or hot baths that could further dry the skin
  • Moisturise more frequently if you take medication which can dry out the skin
  • Use products which are non-greasy, fast absorbing and that do no leave white marks on darker skin tones
  • Use a soap substitute for hand washing and apply hand cream straight after.
  • Use broad spectrum sun protection with SPF 30 to help prevent skin drying out in older age and the signs of aging.
